Moving without the ball

Basketball's most overlooked skill | Moving without the ball

Moving without the ball is one of the most valuable skills in basketball, so what makes someone a great off-ball scorer? How is off-ball scoring different than isolation scoring or the pick-and-roll game?

This video examines all of the counters of off-ball scorers -- the creative and subtle ways they create openings without the ball -- as well as the history of movement and spacing before the 3-point line (1980). Reggie Miller was the first movement-driven star of the 3-point era, and many all-time great shooters have followed his blueprint, including Ray Allen, Klay Thompson, and Stephen Curry.
